She has grown from this...(in the picture below)....

mom&daughter

To this......

mybaby

As you can see....she is no longer what you would call Mother's Little Girl...;-((((

However, I am still proud of her as the young adult that she has become. The following may be boring to some of you as I give a sort of narrative about her....but I can't help it...she's mine and I want the whole world to know how I feel about her.

You may be wondering about my choice of backgrounds for this page....you might be thinking....now why didn't the NiteOwl^ use something relating to children.....or flowers....or just a plain pretty pastel background. Well.....let me tell you why. My daughter should have been born and raised in the "Old West" instead of present time city life.

The background of a cowgirl is just what Jen should have been. She lives in boots and a cowboy hat. She wears either the long dresses/skirts or jeans. She loves horseback riding, animals of all kinds, Country and Western dancing, and doing all kinds of daring things. I'll tell you more about them in a short while. And her online nick is TwoStepN.

Let's begin at the beginning. Jen is an only child...but contary to most beliefs...she is not spoiled. As a matter of a fact, even as a small child she never asked for much and when asked if she would like for me/or someone else to buy something for her, her first reply would be..."How much is it?" If she thought it cost too much or that she didn't really need it she would decline the offer. There were times that I'd have to be sneaky about it and not let her know that I was considering buying something for her so I could get an honest answer from her as to whether or not she liked it.

As a baby, Jen was fantastic....she never gave me one minute of trouble...not that she has ever done that. She started sleeping thru night beginning when she was 17 days old, and would sleep from 11pm to 9 or 10am. Forget naps tho....she never had time for them...;-))) She was always curious about everything and daring. The first heart attack that she ever gave me was before she really started walking good. She figured out how to open the drawers in the kitchen and then used them like a ladder to climb up on the kitchen counter.

As time went by we would do numerous things together. We had season passes to Six Flags Over Georgia and White Water. I would have to take several teenage girls with us to Six Flags to ride the wild rides with Jen (I love the rides...but get motion sickness...;-(((( ). Jen was tall for her age, so at the age of four she was able to ride the "Mind Bender", a wild rollercoaster ride. Several girls were needed because Jen would ride the "Mind Bender" 17 times....IN A ROW!!!

Jen went to a private church school during the elementary years. For several years she was the only girl in her class....poor kid...right? Hmmmm....I don't think so...;-)))) She loved it, the boys were always doing stuff for her. It was during these years...as a matter of a fact..several days before the two of us were to leave for Panama City, FL on a camping trip, that Jen fell (off the monkey bars--showing off in front of the boys) and broke her right arm. The boys really started to do stuff for her then...they even offered to write her homework for her....lol.

Jen's junior high and high school years were spent in public school. In high school she considered becoming a Physical Therapist. She was a Phyiscal Trainer for the baseball, football, and basketball teams. She was accepted at the college of her choice but just before entering she decided to wait....she wasn't sure about what she really wanted to do. (The cowboy idea is really beginning to develope here now).

Jen went to work for awhile...during high school to make extra spending money. She found out that she does not like "Retail" work. She has a hard time accepting the concept that the customer is always right. I have to agree with her on that....I know for a fact that they're not always right...;-)))

After graduating she decided to work for awhile, she was considering how to go about getting started in the career that she wanted....to become a "Rancher". She spent months applying for certain jobs, then she finally landed the one that she really wanted.

She works for the Sheriff's Dept."

She has now been with them for over a year and a half. She works at the jail...she's a Detention Officer....or as most people would say...a "Jailer". She works mostly in the men's jail but occassionally works in the women's.

BIG BIG News Flash!!!!! ---- My baby no longer works for the Sheriff's Dept. She's got a new job.....she's going to work for the HPD....(Hendersonville TN Police Department). Here's where I break down and cry. My baby is moving away from me. She's really starting her OWN life. I think I can accept her being grown up...but what's really really hard to accept is that she's going to be so far from me.....about 5 hours!!!

I guess I can't really blame anyone but myself for her going to work for the HPD. Several years ago I began a website with Det. Coarsey of the HPD and since then we have all become very good close friends. Hmmmmmm.....on second thought....maybe I can blame Det. Coarsey instead of myself. All I know is this...

Denney....you BETTER take GOOD care of MY BABY!!!!

I recently received a big surprise from Jen....to find out more about it just follow this link.

After you read about Jen's big surprise look at the surprise I gave her!
